specs-corehr

Specs for the Core HR domain, plus a multi-root VS Code workspace that pulls in the related code repos as sibling folders.

Modeled on specs-superagent — same lane structure, same root-is-truth convention, same delta-file lifecycle. See that repo's CLAUDE.md for the fuller rationale behind the model; this README only covers what's specific to this domain.

Repo layout

  • schema/ — current data contract (always reflects latest state)
  • adrs/ — current accepted architectural decisions
  • product/ — glossary and other cross-cutting product info
  • feature-sets/ — one folder per Feature Set; each holds only its incremental changes against the root artifacts above (plus its own software-design/), and its Features (spec, test plan). Full context, schema-first gate, runs through Inception → Construction → Release. See feature-sets/README.md for the convention. Starting skeletons live with the skills that generate them, not in this repo — see skills-product/.claude/skills/nova-feature-set/templates/ (concept.md, schema-changes.md, software-design/adr-example.md) and skills-product/.claude/skills/nova-feature/templates/ (spec.md, test-plan.md).
  • improvements/ — one folder per improvement; a single spec.md diffed against root. Lighter context than a Feature Set, no schema gate unless the improvement explicitly says it touches schema/. Owned jointly by PM and EL. See improvements/README.md for the convention and skills-product/templates/improvements/spec.md for a starting skeleton (no skill generates this yet — PM-owned holding area until one exists).
  • debt/ — one folder per engineering debt item; a single spec.md diffed against root. Engineering context only, no PM involvement, no schema gate unless explicitly noted. EL-owned. See debt/README.md for the convention and github-private/docs/ai-dlc/templates/debt/spec.md for a starting skeleton (engineering-owned holding area; no skill generates this yet).

Setup (developers only)

If you're only reading or writing specs (e.g. as a PM), you don't need this.

Requires bash, git, and jq. On Linux/macOS these are one apt/brew install away if missing. On Windows, run it from Git Bash or WSL (native cmd.exe/PowerShell aren't supported) — jq isn't bundled with Git Bash, so install it separately (choco install jq or scoop install jq); WSL can install it the same way as Linux.

Open the workspace (developers only)

Open corehr.code-workspace in VS Code. If a sibling repo wasn't cloned, its folder will show as missing in the Explorer — re-run setup.sh to fix.
